GRATITUDE
“行了讓我來吧.”
“Thanks kids I’ll take care of that.”
“好啊谢谢您了.晚安.”
“Alright thank you. Good night.”
*笑着说* “行了行了”
*All smiles* “Okay”
Taken at the CYM Canteen at the University of Hong Kong on Friday. It was pretty late in terms of campus hours – around 9:30 pm. The canteen was pretty much deserted except for my friend and I and a few other students who were sitting near the glass doors. We had just finished dinner (yes, canteen dinner on a Friday night 😉 ) and were chatting for a bit. As we were about to leave and picked up our trays, this really sweet 伯伯 came up and helped us with the dishes. When we thanked him, he was all smiles.
I was faintly reminded of this quote from The Great Gatsby – “It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.”
That left me thinking – It is his job to help us with the dishes – but how often do we show our gratitude? How much would it cost you to just smile and say thank you?
